Why It Should Be “Consistency Over Quality Over Quantity” When It Comes To Social Media
We’ve all heard the phrase “quality over quantity” applied to all areas of life, and more recently a flip flop of that has gone around for social media growth… People have been saying that when it comes to social media it’s actually all about “quantity over quality.” So, which is it? Is it more important to post a lot or more important to stay true to a high quality brand? Which delivers better results?
While of course there is sadly no golden hack to growing your social media with both perfect quantity and quality, may we present a third option: Consistency over quality over quantity.
Consistency
We believe consistency should be your priority. Consistency is a little different than quantity, because you can post only once a week, but do that consistently, every week, on the same day. Consistency is really helpful for your followers because it gives them something to look forward to, clear expectations, and a rhythm to get attached to.
Quality
We recommend prioritizing quality second. The quality of your work is important for obvious reasons — your posts need to add value for your audience as well as show potential brand partners what you can do.
Quantity
Quantity is the cherry on top. The more often you post, the more chances you have to grow and engage with your audience, so your audience is more likely to grow quickly and become more loyal to your content.
The ideal of course is to have content that is all three of these — consistent, quality content, and a lot of it! But if you have to choose just one to start with, see how it works out for you to commit to a specific posting schedule, even if it’s just once a week, and do that consistently for a year. It might be all you really need to do!
